National School Counseling Week is nigh – a perfect time to talk about who we are and what do we do. Explaining and advocating for our position in the school is essential, because when we function as intended, student outcomes are enhanced. Let’s explore our own advocacy and how to do it better.

Karen Griffith, Ph.D., LPC, is a school counselor, counselor educator, author, RAMP Team Captain and Certified Trainer for ASCA. With over 45 years of experience in the field, Karen continues to provide workshops and to write professionally. Her areas of expertise include building resiliency, counseling skills and the ASCA National Model.
Dr. Griffith lives in Atlanta, GA near her children and grandchildren. She and continues to work as a trainer for the American School Counseling Association, delivering workshops across the nation.
