Expanding the REACH of a Comprehensive School Counseling Program through Student Leadership
Come learn how to expand the REACH of a Comprehensive School Counseling Program through Student Leadeship. Student leaders must have more than a high GPA. School Counselors are the only equipped professionals that can build compassionate, empathetic, emotionally intelligent student leaders. As an extension of the school counseling program student leaders can serve on the front lines and bring in students that may not come into the counseling office for support. It is important for professional school counselors to have access to trained student helpers that can advocate, mediate conflict, mentor, tutor and offer support to students in need. Students that engage in leadership opportunities are engaged in building their school community. Through learning life skills, students are empowered and energized to help their peers. School counselors are on the front end of exchanging ideas with students and stakeholders. By opening up leadership to all students, school counselors offer equal opportunity for all students to gain life skills.
