School Counselors and School Administrators as Intentional Equity Partners

School counselor/principal partnerships can guide the development and implementation of collaborative strategies in schools and among school stakeholders to ensure all students’ academic, social/emotional, and career and college readiness needs are met. Learn from several authors of the Professional School Counseling journal special issue on school counselor and principal collaboration about how school counselors’ and principals’ positions of leadership enable them to work together and guide schoolwide, systemic change. School counselors and school administrators can share leadership strategies to create a positive school culture that empowers all students, including those who currently experience or have experienced oppression. A culturally affirming shared leadership framework is presented for practitioners to consider using in their schools.
